The team here at Carterwood would like to congratulate Duncan Ford and the team at Perseus Land & Developments for obtaining planning consent for a new 64-bed nursing home in Weybridge!
We were pleased to provide a planning need assessment and an alternative site assessment to assist Perseus in demonstrating the need for this high-quality scheme. We wish the team every success with the development of this new dementia home.
The scheme will sit on the site of a former Wyevale Garden Centre and occupies a prime location in the local area.
Importantly, the design of the proposed scheme includes elements that should help mitigate the risk of COVID-19 infections in future. According to Perseus, this is the first of several schemes following a similar blueprint:
“This is the first of several schemes where Perseus has subdivided the bed spaces into ‘households’ of eight, each with their own, independent kitchen and lounge. It is sincerely hoped this will engender a sense of ‘family living’, that residents can be grouped together according to their healthcare needs, age-group and/or hobbies and interests, and that it will be much easier to isolate individual ‘households’ and bedrooms should the threat of COVID-19 continue.”
On Carterwood’s contribution to the successful planning application, Duncan Ford, Managing Director, said:
“Carterwood’s comprehensive planning needs assessment clearly demonstrated that the local community was under-served when it came to quality nursing care provision. They also prepared an alternative site assessment, which was highly commended by the planning officer, for demonstrating that there were no alternative sites in the area for this fantastic new facility. Both reports were extremely valuable in successfully obtaining consent for the scheme and we’re delighted with the outcome.”
Carterwood Associate Jessamy Venables conducted the planning need assessment for this scheme:
“It was, as always, a pleasure to work with Duncan and the Perseus Land & Developments team, as well as Anna at Gillings Planning. I’m delighted our assessment has helped obtain consent and that the local community will soon benefit from such a modern, well-designed new scheme.”
