Ready to hit the road? We’re pleased to announce that our new drive time catchment area feature is now available in Carterwood Analytics | Elderly Care Homes and Carterwood Analytics | Retirement Living.
Our new drive time feature provides subscribers with the opportunity to create bespoke catchment areas based on a drive time distance, providing the flexibility to choose drive time distances ranging from 5 minutes to20 minutes in Carterwood Analytics | Elderly Care Homes or 5 minutes to 45 minutes in Carterwood Analytics | Retirement Living.
Our traditional ‘as-the-crow-flies’ option is still available, but subscribers will now be able to choose between ’distance’ and ’drive time’ on the Market search panel and the Compare page. All the key market indicators will then reflect the market based on this choice, ready to view and download in Excel or PDF format, quicker than you can say ’drive time feature’.
The drive time catchment feature utilises a crowd and open sourced routing package called Openrouteservice, developed by the Heidelberg Institute for Geoinformation Technology at Heidelberg University. Our data engineering team have been hard at work building a drive time matrix containing drive time distances between postcode centroids and output area centroids across England, Scotland and Wales. Our algorithm then calculates the drive time between the two locations by assessing the speed limit on each road and choosing the most appropriate (fastest) route.
This new feature is now available for all our Carterwood Analytics Elderly Care Homes and Retirement Living subscribers to use, so what are you waiting for – it’s time to start looking at your catchment areas from a whole new perspective.
