Did you know…
There are 1.5 million care workers in the UK, contributing to one of the largest workforces, and caring for some of the most vulnerable people in our society.
For the UK’s care workers, early starts, long hours and mentally draining work are part and parcel of the job. As a result, it’s all too easy for illness, or other unforeseen circumstances, to push them beyond their mental and financial limits.
Here at Carterwood, we understand that the UK’s care workers are the backbone of our sector. Working closely with our clients and leading industry organisation, we hear first-hand about the challenges and extreme pressures our sector’s workforce are facing, along with the extraordinary efforts they are undertaking to care for our communities.
One wall, one day and one epic challenge!
We believe UK’s care workers deserve support, and that’s why Carterwood are a regular donor to The Care Workers’ Charity – a charity dedicated to providing mental wellbeing, health, and financial support to the UK’s care workers, whilst actively promoting the immense contribution that the UK’s care workers make to our society.
To help support this amazing workforce, Cassie from our business development team will be lacing up her walking boots and joining fellow fundraisers on the 1st October 2021 to trek one of the most well-known historic landmarks: Hadrian’s Wall…well, 25km (15.5 miles) of it anyway!
Filled with stunning backdrops and a fascinating history, Hadrian’s Wall was the north-west frontier of the Roman empire for nearly 300 years and is now a UNESCO World Heritage. At 73 miles (80 Roman miles) long, it crosses northern Britain from Wallsend on the River Tyne in the east to Bowness-on-Solway in the west.
Assembling before sunrise at Housesteads Roman Fort, Cassie will be trekking for up to 10 hours across challenging undulations, come rain or shine, to reach Wall Town National Park Centre.
Cassie commented;
“I have personally witnessed the amazing work of care workers, caring for the vulnerable in our communities, day-in and day-out, often making sacrifices to provide the best care they can. This will be the longest trek I have undertaken, and I am looking forward to sharing the experience with my colleagues from across the social care sector to help support The Care Workers’ Charity.”

Just as Cassie will no doubt be ‘digging deep’ to complete the 25km trek, we invite you to do the same and join us in our support by donating towards this worthy cause. Every penny counts and your donation would mean the world to us and The Care Workers’ Charity.
